More Than $575,000 Raised by Wine Women & Shoes Means Quality Healthcare for Everyone in Our Northern Sonoma County Communities

Thank you! And Gracias! You’ve done it again. Because of your generosity, our third annual Wine Women & Shoes was an amazing success. Through the efforts of our patrons, contributors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff, we raised more than $575,000 to support the Healthcare Foundation programs during this high-energy event charged with glamour, fun, and philanthropy. The hard-working event co-chairs were Ariel Kelley, Gina Parmeter, and Tara Jasper.

It was a beautiful summer day, Saturday, July 25, 2015, when the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County hosted its third-annual fundraiser at Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens for more than 400 well-heeled women and men, who brought their best friends to support healthcare in northern Sonoma County. After picking up their auction paddles at registration, patrons entered the Marketplace to shop among chic boutiques while sipping some of the finest Sonoma County varietals and enjoying the culinary magic of local restaurants. The boutique purveyors donated 20% of their proceeds to the Healthcare Foundation.

A lunch catered by John Ash & Co. followed. Then masters of ceremonies California Senator Mike McGuire and Sonoma County Supervisor James Gore conducted the festivities in the main pavilion, which featured a fashion show by Susan Graf and a live auction. Winners of the Key to the Closet raffle, which included thousands of dollars in prizes, were June Spadoni and Nichol Baker.

The Healthcare Foundation is committed to each and every member of our community to have access to quality healthcare. According to preliminary estimates, Wine Women & Shoes raised more than $575,000 to support foundation programs. Terri and Pete Kight, owners of Quivira Winery, donated $100,000 in matching funds that were raised during the event.

The Fund-a-Need donations to the Clinic and Healthy Farm Worker Families Fund helped keep quality healthcare close to home by providing grants, such as:

  • Upgrading the dental clinic to serve 20% more patients at Alliance Medical Center
  • Providing surgical supplies to treat more than 200 children with severe tooth decay at PDI Surgery Center
  • Completing renovations and technology upgrades to serve 25% more patients at Alexander Valley Healthcare

Other Healthcare Foundation funds have assisted local healthcare by:

  • Building two radiology rooms and purchasing new surgical equipment for Healdsburg District Hospital
  • Teaching healthy choices to Healdsburg and Cloverdale grade-school children through the Healthy for Life program
  • Awarding scholarships to Sonoma State University family nurse practitioner students

Thank you to our very generous sponsors
