HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION RECEIVES $2 MILLION CHALLENGE GRANT

Please help us as we seek to advance healthcare in our community!  Right now, every donation will be matched by a $2 million Challenge Grant from the Kight Foundation and Quivera Vineyards.

This generous grant from the Kight Foundation and Quivira Vineyards represents one of the largest gifts in the Healthcare Foundation's history and is made on a challenge basis!  The intent is to raise awareness about the critical work of the Healthcare Foundation and engage our entire community in helping to build the future of healthcare for every resident in Windsor, Healdsburg, Geyserville and Cloverdale.

"One of the great benefits of this marvelous community, it's rural small town setting, can turn into a dangerous liability if we don't preserve an effective healthcare capability.  Of all the things that will get cut back in this tough economy, we simply cannot allow critical healthcare to be one of them.  This isn't just nice-to-have, this is life and death for a small community like Healdsburg," said Pete Kight.

This historic award is an endorsement of Healthcare Foundation’s mission and historic success of raising more than $14 million to revitalize Healdsburg District Hospital by funding life saving projects such as:

• Wetzel Family Emergency Department;
• Re-opening Patricia & Raymond Chambers Intensive Care Unit;
• Dry Creek Rancheria Women’s Health Center;
• Hospitalist Program to better serve inpatients;
• Kozel Stroke Institute using robotic tele-presence, the first rural community to incorporate this technology!

And now the Foundation aspires to do even more by:

• Funding new Information Technology for hospital, clinics and providers;
• Funding efforts to retain & recruit physicians;
• Investing in new radiology and diagnostic equipment at Healdsburg District Hospital.

This Challenge Grant provides an incredible opportunity for the Healthcare Foundation to leverage support from new donors and go back to some of our past contributors and see if they can move up to the next level of giving in response to this community challenge.
